Kanye West’s seminal album, The College Dropout, is getting a playful makeover. Nearly 20 years after its release, the album has inspired a LEGO-themed video game.
TheCanvasDon, a renowned internet content creator known for his LEGO-centric creations, unveiled the upcoming game, The College Brickout, on Tuesday (August 15). Slated for release on Friday (August 18), this limited-edition game will be available exclusively for desktop users, compatible with both Windows and Mac.
In a teaser post, TheCanvasDon excitedly shared, “The College Brickout game! Limited amount dropping this Friday!” He further detailed that the package would include a case, CD, and a downloadable game file.
TheCanvasDon’s portfolio is rich with LEGO-inspired content. He has a knack for reimagining iconic hip-hop album covers in LEGO format and even boasts his own line of LEGO toys. This isn’t his first foray into Kanye West’s world either. He has previously released LEGO models representing various phases of West’s career and has given a LEGO twist to several of Ye’s album covers.
Kanye West, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet in the creative domain. His reputation took a hit last year following a series of PR mishaps, including controversial antisemitic comments. Discussions about West nowadays often draw a line between his past and present personas. T.I., a fellow artist, recently weighed in on the stark differences between the two versions of Kanye.
